Video | Labor Day Recess

On Monday, September 5, schools and district offices will be closed in observance of Labor Day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 6.

Many Americans will enjoy a 3-day weekend as we celebrate Labor Day on Monday. Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States celebrated on the first Monday in September to honor and recognize American workers and their contributions to the development and achievements of the United States.

But, I’d be remiss if I didn’t address the labor shortages impacting PVSchools, a situation shared by many school districts across the country as well as by many different industries.

The lack of teachers is specifically challenging this year, and as a result, we have reassigned some support teachers and collapsed some classrooms to move existing staff to fill vacant positions. We started the year with more than 50 certified vacancies alone. Leaving hundreds of students without a permanent highly qualified teacher. This is why we are and will continue to make decisions that maximize our existing staff to meet the needs of all students.

Thank you for your understanding and support during these unprecedented times. Our community is strong, and together we will find success.
